Whitney Houston, new song release, GTD and a Life Coach!

It’s been busy and I have missed you, dear friends! Sometimes, being a working Mommy keeps the pace seemingly beyond my reach.  Many of you may know that I am working on transitioning out of my regular gig (their Social Media policy’s prohibit me from talking about them) and into my own singing, teaching, social media business.  I am truly grateful for the clients and students I have who believe in me and are so encouraging.

My new web page via Weebly is getting really close to it’s unveiling and I just can’t wait!  It’s a lot of work to do it yourself, but the satisfaction of learning and figuring things out are extremely rewarding.  I’m hoping for a March 1st announcement.

My vocal trio, Dangerous Curves just released our newest song,  “Someone To Watch Over Me” arranged by our fab friend, Trini Garza and recorded at E3 Studios.  You can buy it here!  Thursday we had a gig at the South Point, appearing on the Dennis Bono Show! We had the great privilege to share the stage with, Larry Gatlin – singer-songwriter of the Gatlin Brothers, Elisa Fiorillo-Dease – Fabulous Pop Singer Touring with Prince, Traci Kesisian – Beautiful Singer/Actress/Dancer from Broadway and Corrie Sachs – Star of Country Music Super Stars Show and of course, Dennis Bono, himself!

In a completely “keepin’ it real” moment (thanks Randy Jackson, for that phrase I use frequently in my life) I need to GTD faster!  I’m great at list making and using my iPad apps, but sometimes the follow through is lacking.  You know that feeling when you have so much to do, you actually feel immobile?  Or, I get up with great intentions, but the day-to-day business that must be done precludes you from doing what you ACTUALLY want to do? Ugh, frustrating!  Well, I just had a wonderful conversation with a neighbor and new friend and she recommended her life coach to me.  I think I am going to try that out.  I’ll let you know how that works out.

Lastly, I feel the need to comment on Whitney Houston and her FAR to early departure from Earth (although I’m sure the angels are singing with that heavenly voice).  I literally cried when I heard that she had died and then as the details came out, I got angry.  HOW did this happen?!?!  We are all painfully aware of her troubled times with drug and alcohol abuse. But, really, HOW did this happen? Lots of people who love her around, a superstar, lots of money and yet a tortured soul at the end, clearly. I can’t answer how it happened, but it reminded me of a truth that is difficult if not downright tough.  We all make our own choices.  We are responsible for our choices and therefore, the consequences.  Yikes, I kinda hate that.  I’ll be honest with you in a very personal way  (back to “keepin it real”!).  I struggle with my weight, so the fact of the matter is, I need to choose better food, more exercise, etc.  I want more money in my savings account, so I need to spend less, save more and continue to work hard.  Simple.  So do it. “Nuff said.

I am going to remember the Whitney Houston who’s voice inspired me and songs gave so much joy.   The girl who’s National Anthem is my clear standard.  And, a woman whose beauty was inside and out, may she rest in eternal peace…..

>June Blooms With Curves and Hot Summer Nights

The Curves had a fantastic time as the Guest Artists for the Hot Summerlin Nights Guest Artist Series in Summerlin. The host of this event was Grace In the Desert and a great time was had by all, especially us!
The venue was lovely, with big open windows that allowed the sun to shine through and really bring a heavenly feel to the room. Talk about earthly inspiration!
This was a unique show for us as we had no band and only our tracks. In these economic times, we are learning to be extremely resourceful. While our preference, goal and desire is to have live music at all times, the fact of the matter is that in order to bring our music to as many people as possible, we have to remain open minded. It certainly does make us stay on our toes! Stay tuned for the release date (FINALLY) of our CD! And, do your best to stay cool and curvy in these hot summer months.

I can’t believe it’s almost May!  This month flew by and really it’s no wonder. The Curves were beyond busy this month and a fabulous month we had!  I was trying to wait for the video to be finished ( editing, that is) and my husband is working like crazy on it-but it just takes time.  So, instead of waiting to write about our show, I will simply carry on and then post more at a later date.

We wrote and produced what is, without a doubt, our best show to date. We added new songs, had dresses made and made our first (real) lighting chart.  It was very exciting and a real success. Some of our new material included Jason Robert Brown‘s “Hear My Song”, Scott Alan’s “Let Love Begin” and even a comedy song, “Girl in 14G”!  Who knew the Curves can sing-dance and be funny!  I am so thrilled with our hard work and it is really paying off.  We are feeling some real momentum with our soon-to-be commercially released CD (just finishing up the licensing), new costumes and video.
In addition, this weekend, we had the privilege of singing for some our country’s heros at the Veteran’s Home in Boulder City.  What a sweet and loving crowd!  These are the men and women who fought for our freedom and as they sang along with us to God Bless America, there wasn’t a dry eye in the house.  It really makes you feel blessed to live in the United States and proud to be an American.  Pictured with us is the lovely Angela, who booked us for this job!  Thanks, Angela for the great food and treats!
Have a very curvalicious week and enjoy this beautiful weather-it seems to be from coast to coast gorgeous!

Hello Friends!  Yes, its been a while, which may lead you to believe that not much is going on….NOTHING could be further from the truth!  In fact, we have been so busy preparing for shows, working on our marketing and licensing our CD for commercial release!  We have jumped on the twitter band wagon and you can follow our tweets at twitter!

We have the Suncoast Hit Parade coming up next week on Thursday at the gorgeous Suncoast Hotel in Summerlin and the lovely Robin Vincent hosting.  Then, on Sunday we are making an appearance with the fabulous and talented Kellie Wright at the Flamingo Library Theatre.  She has graciously invited us to sing one of our songs and promote our show.  She will be doing her own version of jazz and blues that should not be missed!
Our show at the Flamingo Library Theatre is Sunday, April 19th at 2pm and the tickets are $15 at the door.  It is going to be an exciting show with all your favorites and several new songs that we are so excited about!  We are going to have a live band and perhaps our new costumes will be ready!  OMG!  That just made me feel so excited!  Nothing better than a new dress and singing great songs with your friends!  We are so lucky, ‘cuz we really are friends.  Sometimes our rehearsals are therapy sessions!  We talk about life and love and kids and husbands and music and somehow it just makes things better to talk to each other.
🙂  True BFFs!  Happy first day of Spring!

>CD release party!

There are lots of curves going on in these pictures!  All Dangerous!  We had the most wonderful friend, family and fan-filled day at our very first CD release party.  From here to cyber-land, we had people in and out all day to pose for pictures, leave messages on Facebook and even purchase our CD “girl talk”.  We truly could not be more grateful, thankful and thrilled at the turn out of love and support.
We drank lovely Champagne and Sangria and Pink Punch (made by our Curve, Lisa-OF COURSE, it was pink!) and feasted on delicious treats, mostly made possible by the oh-so-talented Gret, who not only sings like a Broadway diva, but cooks like Martha Stewart!

If you haven’t had the chance to hear some of our songs, please jump on over to our

Dangerous Curves website and take a listen!

Have a wonderful Holiday-be it the miracle of Hanukkah (today is day 3), celebrating the birth of Jesus the Savior or simply enjoying the happiness and joy of the season with friends and family near and far-the Curves wish you all the joy possible today and in the days to come.

>Red hot girls at the Orleans!

In cd, dangerous curves, gigs, girls, singing, the Orleans hotel and casino on December 15, 2008 at 8:03 pm

Here we are at the Orleans just before we go on for the Newcomer’s Holiday Luncheon!  Before I continue about Dangerous Curves, may I just tell you that the Orleans was a fantastic experience!  The casino was sparkling clean and ALL of the staff, from the Valet to the Bell Desk to the Banquet servers and supervisor were all happy, helpful and fantastic!  Congratulations to the staff of the Orleans!
We did a brand new version of our show and it is quickly becoming one of my favorite versions! No new songs yet,  but I really liked the arrangement of songs-once we have our new opener up and running (no, I am not telling yet!) this show will really fly!  The audience was super and we are so grateful for the way we are continuously received.  These ladies were loads of fun and a fantastic time was had by all.
The other completely exhilarating thing going on with Dangerous Curves is the release of our CD “girl talk“!  We received a few the morning of our gig (thanks to Gret’s husband, Michael!) and we were able to sell them after the show!    Its just one fabulous thing after another with the girls Dangerous Curves!

>Our CD is almost here!

In Broadway, cd, dangerous curves, recording studio on November 17, 2008 at 10:06 pm

>OK!  I just can’t help it!  I had to share this with you!  Isn’t it stunning!!  Lisa put this together and although the final order of songs is not yet decided, the layout is set!  We are beyond excited for the release of the very first Dangerous Curves CD!  What an undertaking that is-let me tell you!  First the recording process was fun-exciting-difficult-introspective and things I never imagined.  What an amazing learning experience as a performer.  For me, the thing I wanted most to do was make the recording feel like it was a live performance-but with the perfect, clean, clear sounds of recording.

Now, we are working on the finalization of things-mixing and mastering and putting together the hard copy stuff-like the example above!  Lisa did such a great job on that and wait ’till you see the rest!  Its breathtaking!  I feel so lucky to be a part of this with these amazing girls!  We decided to feature ourselves a bit with some solo work and hon-est-ly!  Gret should be on Broadway with her rendition of “Children Will Listen”, and don’t listen to Lisa’s haunting version of “By The Way” while you are driving cuz the tears are gonna flow!  I was fortunate enough to do an original song written by Rob Hyatt and Jerry Jones, I hope you love it as much as I love singing it!
Gotta run friends, rehearsal tomorrow morning!

PF Changs was the choice for the girls to have a business luncheon this time and yummy and great service it was!  A good choice for Lisa, since they have a fabulous gluten free menu.  And, of course, who doesn’t enjoy organic green tea!  We had a nice light lunch, with a major discussion on the order of songs on our first CD!  We are really getting close to its release!  This Friday was the last of the recording with Rob Hyatt, then we need to finish mixing and mastering with Chuck and then we do all the duplicating and CD artwork.  Lisa has been working on that and let me tell you it looks fabulous! Soon it will be available for purchase, probably close to the beginning of the new year!  Don’t worry, we will be doing a full scale release when it happens!  For now, we are concentrating on rehearsing for our next show, December 10th at the Orleans, adding new material (Andrews Sisters, Glen Miller Orchestra and more are on the short list) and finishing up the CD.  Whew!  Let’s go!

Hello friends and fans alike! The Girls are at it again and this time they are in full swing! We have been in the studio working hard on our CD due to be released in early October. In addition, we have been in heavy rehearsals adding more great songs to our shows, for you!

The studio time with Rob Hyatt has been such a fantastic learning experience! Every single sound-consonants-breath-vocal choice is absolutely and completely highlighted. It is daunting. It is amazing. It is terrifying. I don’t know how all you studio people do it without making yourself crazy. Luckily, Rob is an amazing musician and so helpful with suggestions on notes and dynamics, we just couldn’t do it without him. Lisa is amazing with her ear and able to find and create harmonies on a dime. Gret hears somethings once and is ready to go. And, of course, I am happy and proud to say, our blend is becoming a true work of art. 🙂
As you can see its late and time for beauty sleep, but I just couldn’t wait to share some of our exciting moments with you.
Have a super curvy day!
